Lehrer

Description

Lehrer is a Tombsona who exists to learn and teach. Since they retain all memories from all of their hosts, they are very well suited for the role! They do tend to be very scatterbrained because of this, though, occasionally using knowledge that has since been more explored or that hasn't been explored yet. They are skilled in basic academics and several highly specific fields, but struggle to understand things they have not been taught yet. They bind to hosts who were researchers, teachers, and caregivers, who passed on without fully spreading their knowledge and care to the world.

Backstory

Lehrer is a Tombsona that exists in the soil of emotionally charged areas, frequently monuments, memorials, gravesites, and other locations of concentrated history and emotion. They are a very inquisitive Tombsona who is sympathetic to souls who are tied in some way to their sites, and will bind to souls (and their corpses) with a drive to complete their unfinished business. Their thirst for knowledge and passion for teaching and connection causes them to prefer hosts who share those ideas, frequently young academics and teachers who desire to make more of an impact on the world. When bound, the body of the host will remain dirty regardless of how much they wash, covered in the soil that Lehrer is attached to, and while their body will not smell and decomposition will halt, any preexisting damage will remain. Lehrer will remain with their host until their business is complete, their lessons taught, and upon completion they will travel to the host's chosen burial site and set their body to rest. The soil and stones of that site will then become a new locale for Lehrer. Their first host taught them the lesson of giving, and they will continue to share that lesson for as long as they exist (which is forever).

Notably among Tombsonas, Lehrer has no color or power of their own outside of keeping a host going, and instead gain power through other Tombsonas as they learn and interact with them (powering them up in return). They are innately drawn to other Tombsonas, and will travel to reach them even across great distances. When "unpowered", their primary color is grey, although they will often wear bright clothes, and upon interacting with other Tombs will absorb and magnify their color and abilities. When drawn, the parts of their outfit and body that are grey, clothes and skin, will become colored and patterned based on the theme of the Tombsona(s) they are with.

Personality

Lehrer is inquisitive, creative, curious, comedic, and lighthearted, with a penchant for teaching and caretaking. They love to learn, then spread what they have learned to others in a fun and engaging way. They abhor cruelty, and will always attempt to defend victims of bullying (although their corpse body is physically frail and can become permanently damaged when they do so). They are a rather cautious Tombsona who prefers to gather information before acting, and can be slow to participate at times because of this. Their cautious and lighthearted nature, plus a lack of personal power, makes them disinclined to combat, preferring a supporting role. Their uniquely structured cumulative memory makes them extremely intelligent, but extremely scatterbrained, as multiple contradicting pieces of knowledge can exist within them at once. Lehrer is extremely prone to physical insecurity due to binding to corpses, and will most often wear high coverage, brightly colored, bulky clothes and masks to hide damage to their body. They dislike frightening others, especially children, and will become anxious if others are anxious around them. They also fear failure.

Trivia

  • Lehrer does not need to eat, but can choose to. Their current host's favorite food is kolaches.
  • Lehrer can possess any formerly alive thing that is in some way attached to their soil, whether it be being physically buried there or having a strong emotional connection to the location.
  • Their hosts' faces will change to have three eyes, and a cartoonish version of that face will appear on any item worn in front of the face.
  • They do not stink, but always smell of fresh dirt and rain.
  • Lehrer has a uniquely strong memory, and can absorb the skills and knowledge of Tombsonas who they share power with. That knowledge will then be present in all hosts, and can be transmitted to others when they choose.
